Love City Car Ferries, Inc Does Not Control the Docks

The docks are controlled by the Virgin Islands Port Authority (VIPA) and their agents. Once you arrive, you must pay a toll at VIPA’s toll both. After the toll is paid, you are allowed to enter the gate to access the dock.

Just like the airlines do not control the functions of TSA neither do we control the functions of VIPA. Your reservations are honored once you are in the gate before your departure time. If you are in a long line at TSA, the airlines can’t be blamed if you miss your flight. TSA is not within their control. Similarly, if you are in a long line with VIPA, that is not within our control and we shouldn’t be blamed if you miss your departure.

Our recommendation is for you to arrive early and to make sure you tell the person directing you which company you are booked for. Once you are in the gate on time, your reservation will be honored. If you missed your reserved departure, we will honor your booking on the next available trip, on a first come first served basis.

Our vessels are the Capt Vic or the Grand Vic. They are black and white and the names of the vessels are on the boats. Please be sure to board the correct vessel because other companies use the same docks and they will not honor our reservation.

Again, as a reminder, the individuals on the dock do not work for Love City Car Ferries, Inc. They are instead agents of the Virgin Islands Government via its agency, VIPA

so if a 100 cars in front of me don't have reservations they get in the gate because I can't pass them and I had a reservation I'm screwed cause I couldn't get in?

We are scheduled for the 5 p.m. ferry on December 14th. If the plane is late, or the rental car company is delayed, should we call and request rebooking on the 7 p.m. ferry?

I have booked a RT ticket on April 16 on the 7pm ferry from STT to STJ. If I'm able to make the 5pm ferry can I use my 7pm ferry ticket?

If I book a reservation for 7pm but we make good time for the 5pm ferry will we be able to board the 5pm ?

I am still not sure what I think about the author's argument, but I am glad they raised the issue. It is a topic that I have been thinking about, and I am glad to have more information to consider. I will need to do some more research before I can form a definitive opinion.
