Rationale for Price Change and New Prices

One of Love City Car Ferries, Inc's primary mission is to keep the car ferry transportation in the Virgin Islands affordable. But at the same time, we have to be sustainable.

We have experienced price increases in every area between 2010 and 2021. While rates for everything have doubled and or tripled, we have not changed the price of a car or small truck.

One of the ways in which we've attempted to remain at this lower rate is by asking the local and federal governments for subsidies. The government generally realizes that this sort of transportation is necessary to the well being of the people. So, they do what is necessary to ensure its sustainability, thus subsidizing mass transit such as airlines, trains, and in the Virgin Islands passenger ferries.  This is not the case in the Virgin Islands' car ferry industry. We have to assume the outright building and maintenance costs on our own.

However, given the rising costs of fuel, insurance, labor, etc, it is not only necessary but inevitable that we must raise our prices, in order to be able to continue serving the general public.

Again, we are trying to balance our compassionate value with that of the need to remain sustainable.

Thank you for your understanding.
We look forward to continuing to serve you.

If people had any idea what it costs to run a USCG vessel in the Virgin Islands, they would fully understand the increase. Plus with fuel prices going up and up. I get it.
Thank you Love City Ferries for running a professional operation!

I've appreciated the efforts of the barge companies to hold their prices in the past, and especially, LCCF to offer a discount for residents having Senior Cards. I'll hope that benefit continues and would encourage that the other companies adopt that discount to lesson the effect on seniors, who often travel in personal cars for medical visits. I recognize the economic demands on the operators and welcome the ability for staff earnings to increase across the board.
